Dong Zhujun, a modern entrepreneur, was a pioneer of the Chinese feminist movement and the founder of the famous Shanghai Jinjiang Hotel. His ancestral home is Dongzhaogang, Haimen City, Jiangsu Province. His original surname is Dong. He was born in a poor family. At the age of 6, he sought to study in a private school. At the age of 14, he became a singer because of his family circumstances. During this period, he happened to meet a revolutionary aspirant Xia (then the governor of Sichuan) and left the sea of misery. He traveled east to Japan to study. After returning to China, he started his own business in Shanghai and successively founded a series of industries such as Jinjiang Sichuan Restaurant and Jinjiang Tea Room. During the Anti-Japanese War, he had many contacts with Zhou Enlai, Deng Yingchao and Guo Moruo.
Dong Zhujun's former residence, located at 1294 Yuyuan Road, Changning District, was built in 1925, covering an area of 185 square meters and a construction area of 740 square meters. Wu Kejian, the head of the Shanghai Underground Party of the Communist Party of China, used to oppose the commander of the Kuomintang Shanghai Garrison in Dong Zhujun's former residence on Yuyuan Road, rescue the Democrats, and protect revolutionary comrades. The old residence is an independent garden villa with a false four-story brick-concrete structure. The plan is rectangular, and the bottom of the south facade is a continuous arch corridor. Red brick clear water exterior, gable with fine pebble finish; interior floor of cedar parquet.
