Wang Boqun's former residence in Shanghai is located at No. 31, Lane 1136, Yuyuan Road, Changning District. The building was completed in 1934. It is an Italian Gothic castle building with an area of 10.78 mu and a main building area of 2158.8 square meters. It has a four-story reinforced concrete structure. There are 32 halls of various sizes. The passageway in the building is circuitous and runs up and down. The halls and guest halls are decorated with traditional oriental art, empty cast plum window rails.
Wang Boqun is a native of Xingyi, Guizhou. As an early progressive, he served as the president of Daxia University and Jiaotong University. He has three former residences in his life, located in Xingyi, Guiyang and Shanghai.
In 1960, the Changning District Committee of Shanghai decided to establish the Changning District Children's Palace in the former residence of Wang Boqun, and opened up it as a tourism unit open to the outside world in Shanghai. It is now an excellent modern building in Shanghai and a key cultural relic protection unit.
