After the liberation of Shanghai, the Shanghai Law School was merged into the Shanghai Institute of Finance and Economics. In 1951, six private institutions of higher learning, namely, Shanghai Law School, Chengming College of Arts, Shanghai Law and Politics College, New China Law and Business School, New China College and Guangxia School of Business and Junior College, merged to form the "Private Shanghai College". The former Shanghai Law and Politics College was the main campus, and the 25-year history of Shanghai Law School came to an end. From 1950 to 1952, the current site of Xijiangwan Road was the research department of the School of Finance and Economics, specializing in the further study of cadres. From 1952 to 1958, the Shanghai Institute of Finance and Economics merged with the Shanghai Institute of Economics, the East China Institute of Political Science and Law, the Institute of History, and the Law Department of Fudan University to form the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. After the Shanghai Institute of Finance and Economics moved out in 1958, Shanghai Foreign Studies University opened a branch at 574 Xijiangwan Road. By the end of 1972, the branch of the Foreign Language Institute was withdrawn and it became Xijiang Middle School again.
Shanghai University of Law was founded in 1926 by Wang Kaijiang, Chu Fucheng, Dong Kang, Yu Youren, etc. The original campus was located at 479 to 483 Pubai Road (now Taicang Road). In 1928, he moved to 574 Jiangwan Road (now Xijiangwan Road) to build his own school building. In 1930, the name was changed to "Shanghai Law School". Chu Fucheng was appointed dean and Shen Junru was appointed dean. The school building was occupied during the Anti-Japanese War and moved to Wangjiasha for classes. After the Pacific War, he moved to Tunxi, Anhui Province, and set up a branch in Wanxian County, east Sichuan. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he moved back to the original site of Jiangwan Road.
Today, the old building of Shanghai Law School is only "Fucheng Hall" (now renamed "Youth Hall"). This solemn auditorium with lead and gray tones is named "Fucheng Hall" in memory of Dean Chu Fucheng ".
The "Youth Hall" with a history of more than 80 years can accommodate 450 people. It is the only auditorium named after "youth" in the city. It is now the seat of Shanghai Youth Management Cadre College.
